Construction of a pedestrian crossing will require a one-block closure of East Main Street between Sheppard and Lampasas Streets from Feb. 17 to March 14.
The new raised pedestrian crossing will connect Prete Plaza to the Paseo (currently under construction), providing a safer route for pedestrians in Downtown. The crossing, which will include bollards and signage to alert drivers, aims to enhance pedestrian safety where mid-block crossings have long been a concern.
The Paseo project and Griffith Building remodel are anticipated to be substantially complete in late 2025.
During the closure, drivers will be detoured to East Bagdad Avenue or East Liberty Avenue, as shown on the map below.
