Jingle your way through Downtown: A festive December checklist

We know your December calendar is filling up like Santa’s bag of toys, so we’ve compiled all of the must-do holiday happenings in Downtown Round Rock.

Hometown Holiday lights

Dec. 1-31, nightly

Beginning when the sun sets on December 1 and twinkling to life every night through the end of the month, you and yours can delight in a festive family outing. Grab a coat and jingle all the way to Main Street for a sea of glittering trees and interactive holiday decor.


Hometown Holiday live music

Nov. 28-Dec. 23, times and locations vary

The Hometown Holiday season will include over 40 free evening concerts for the community. Shows take place Tuesday-Saturday nights throughout Downtown. Check out the full line-up and locations here.


Downtowner Gallery Holiday mART

Tuesdays-Fridays, Noon-5 p.m. and shopping Saturdays Dec. 2, 9, and 16 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Head Downtown for an artful shopping experience in the Downtowner Gallery with the annual Downtowner Holiday mART wherein the art gallery has been restaged as an art gift shop! This year’s theme is nostalgia, and we hope you’ll enjoy searching through all of the creative treasures made by local and area artists. Among the art gifts, made by local and area artists, there are items like artistic pickleball paddles and ornaments, prints, charcuterie boards, jewelry, wristlets, notebooks, fused glass art, home decor, notecards, stickers, cookie trays, ornaments, tote bags, games, cookies, and more! 

Plus: The annual window sugar art display from Capital Confectioners is here for family selfies! Marvel at life-sized figures and scenery with the theme of Whoville!


Holiday model train exhibit

Dec. 13-30, Wednesdays-Sundays from Noon to 5 p.m.

Round Rock Public Library, 200 East Liberty Avenue

From Dec. 13-30, the Holiday Model Train Exhibit returns to the new Round Rock Public Library at 200 E. Liberty Ave. This free activity invites families to explore and interact with model trains. A perfect outing for future engineers young and old, the exhibit is a great way to dive into the holiday spirit.


Hometown Gift and Decor holiday market

Saturday, Dec. 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

400 East Main Street

Head to this free event at Hometown Gift and Decor for mimosas, Christmas punch, a hot chocolate bar, and giveaways inside the shop! Outside, you’ll find local vendors ranging from handmade candles and jewelry to Colombian empanadas and more!

Santa will be on-site from 2-4 p.m. so bring the kids as well!


Santa at The Mercantile on Main

503 East Main Street

11 a.m.- 1 p.m., Saturday, December 16- FREE Santa Meet & Greet at The Loft (above the boutique). Free event, but registration required here.

10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, Paid professional photos with Santa Phil. Santa will also be reading a story to the group at the end of each 1-hour session. Paid reservation required here.

Need a last-minute holiday treat? Paige’s has you covered with white chocolate peppermint and gingerbread baby cakes, jumbo gourmet decorated cookies, gingerbread decorating kits, cookie party trays, snowball cookie gift tins, and more! And, psst, you might just see the Paige’s desser truck, “Sweetie”, at the Austin Train of Lights so go say and hi and support a local Downtown business!
