Free summer theatre returns to Downtown Round Rock with “Around the World in 80 Days”

Penfold Theatre Company presents “Around the World in 80 Days,” free-of-charge  from 8 t0 10 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through June.

The production will take place in the amphitheater at Centennial Plaza in Downtown Round Rock.

Around the World in 80 Days is the seventh production in the “Penfold in the Park” series, an annual offering of free, outdoor summer theatre, made possible by a partnership with the City of Round Rock.  Previous productions include A Comedy of ErrorsThe Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged, Servant of Two Masters, Shipwrecked!, Romeo & Juliet and Hound of the Baskervilles.

This years new, hilarious take on the classic Jules Verne novel Around the World in 80 Days follows the fearless adventuress Phyllida Fogg, who agrees to an outrageous wager that puts her life and fortune at risk. Danger, romance and comic surprises abound as six actors playing dozens of characters circle the globe in a dramatic race against time!

The production runs about two hours and fifteen minutes, with one intermission and is recommended for ages 5 and up. No reservations are required. Donations are appreciated.

Guests may bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs to sit on. Food and drink is also permitted. However, for safety reasons, guests are asked to avoid glass containers.
