Holiday fun in Downtown: Your December checklist

We know your December calendar is filling up like Santa’s bag of toys, so we’ve compiled all of the must-do holiday happenings in Downtown Round Rock.

Hometown Holiday lights

Dec. 1-31, nightly

Beginning when the sun sets on December 1 and twinkling to life every night through the end of the month, you and yours can delight in a festive family outing. Grab a coat and jingle all the way to Main Street for a sea of glittering trees and interactive holiday decor.


Hometown Holiday live music

Dec. 3-21, times and locations vary

The Hometown Holiday season will include 30 free evening concerts for the community. Shows take place Tuesday-Saturday nights throughout Downtown. Check out the full line-up and locations here.


Holiday model train exhibit

Dec. 4-Jan. 3, full train schedule here

The City Arts Center, 200 East Liberty Avenue

The Tinplate Trackers of Austin Texas will present their free annual exhibit in the City Arts Center, with trains running through an assortment of landscapes natural, industrial, and dramatic too. Even when the trains are at rest, this exhibit is a delight to behold. A perfect outing for future engineers young and old, the exhibit is a great way to dive into the holiday spirit.


Hometown Gift and Decor holiday events

400 East Main Street

Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Beer and Browse event-This is the perfect way to get EXACTLY what you want under the tree. Create a custom wish list in-store starting Dec. 2 and your loved ones can swing by during the event to shop directly from your list. A local concierge service will provide free gift wrapping and drinks will be provided.

Saturday, Dec. 14, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Holiday Vendor Market– Stop by the last vendor market of the year and bring the littles for free photos with Santa from 1 to 3 p.m. After checking out the 10 local vendors outside, check out all of the gifts inside the shop and enjoy the food truck and free hot chocolate bar.

Gingerbread house workshop-Get into the festive spirit as you design and decorate your very own gingerbread house. With everything from classic royal icing to an assortment of colorful candies, you’ll have the tools to make a whimsical holiday centerpiece. Whether you’re piping frosty accents, adding sugary shingles, or creating candy-coated details, we’ll guide you through the techniques to craft a gingerbread house that’s as delightful to look at as it is to share! Saturday, December 7, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Cookies with Santa– Free photo with any purchase!

Throughout the month, Paige’s will have mini Christmas cookie platters available in their grab-and-go case, take-and-bake drop cookies for Santa, gingerbread house kits, cookie decorating kits, edible Christmas cards, pies, and assorted sweets perfect for entertaining during the holidays!


Round Rock PopUp Art Show

Dec. 14, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Come out for a fun day of retail therapy, with the extra feel-good of shopping from and supporting local, artist-owned businesses! We’re putting the spotlight on a dozen artists at our event, so you can meet local creatives, explore their works, find out how they do what they do, and go home with an art gift of distinction!
