Valentine’s schmalentines, y’all. While we’re all for heart-shaped chocolates, cute cards and teddy bears (they’re kinda our thing in case you didn’t know), we think love should be celebrated on the daily. So, instead of thinking up a list full of Valentine’s Day specific ideas to pull at those heart-strings of yours, we decided to put together a few downtown dates sure to make your sweetie swoon any day of the year!
1. Coffee and conversation at Star Co. Coffee
When words cannot espresso how much your significant other means to you, let a little coffee do the talking! Star Co. Coffee is the perfect hometown hangout to grab a latte, chow down on a few munchies, talk about how much you love each other (I love you more, no I love you more, no I love you more) and maybe grab an ice cream for the ride home.
Is there anything more romantic than a picnic at the park? It’s absolutely classic, and if you haven’t checked out Memorial Park on a warm day, you’re missing out. From babbling Brushy Creek to the tree-lined trail that surrounds the park, it’s a great spot to spend an afternoon with the one who makes your heart go all thumpity-thump-thump-thump.
3. Sweets for your sweetie at 3 Star Candy
As if the nostalgic candies weren’t enough, 3 Star Candy Shop now has a soda fountain bar complete with bottle cap stools. One soda, two straws anyone?
4. Craft brews and giant Jenga under the stars at Brass Tap
Swap the I❤️️U for an IPA and take on a game of giant Jenga under the stars with your partner in crime. The Brass Tap has a swoon-worth patio perfect for an evening with friends or just the two of you. Add to that an epic selection of craft brews and you’ve got yourself a winner!
5. Hold hands and search the Round Rock Public Library’s shelves
Remember when holding hands and going steady were everything you yearned for? Take a step back in time and head to the library with your sweetheart for an afternoon of strolling the shelves hip-to-hip, hand-in-hand looking for the perfect set of books to cuddle up with together later at home.
6. Twirl under the tower after a night of sing-alongs at Rockey’s Dueling Piano Bar
If you think twirling under Austin’s Zilker Chrismtas Tree is romantic, you ain’t twirled under a hometown water tower yet! Put on your fancy shirt and your best pair of jeans for a night of piano sing-alongs and selfies under the stars!
7. Lady-and-the-Tramp-it-up by sharing fresh-made pasta in candlelight at Palermo Pasta House
Italian food for two. If the pictures of the food above aren’t romantic, we’re not sure what is.
8. Feel the hometown beat and dance the night away at our Music on Main outdoor concert series
Beginning in March and going through May, Downtown hosts a music series filled with delicious eats, blankets and lawn chairs under the stars and hometown fun sure to fill that heart of yours with small-town spirit. So, grab you two-steppin’ troubadour and get down here for a night of local loving.
